Several years ago, the Lord asked me a question, "Where are you from?” My family had recently moved from where we'd grown up and spent our entire lives, so naturally, my thoughts went back to those memories, the last place I truly felt at home.

 

Still, God had more to reveal and say to me about this place called "home." One of the places he spoke to me from was Ephesians 1:4, which says, “And he chose us to be his very own, joining us to himself even before he laid the foundation of the universe.”

 

Long before I took my first breath and before the foundations of the universe were laid, God wanted me to know that I was chosen and had a home with him.

During his earthly life, Jesus answered the same question about eternity. “Jesus knew that the Father had put him in complete charge of everything, that he came from God and was on his way back to God” ( John 13:3 ).

 

Jesus had eternity settled in his heart. He knew where he was from, and he knew where he was going. In the following days, he laid down his life, dying on a cross for the forgiveness of sins, and was resurrected, proving he has authority over death. In doing so, he passed on an inheritance of eternal life, or spiritual homecoming, for all who believe in him.

Where I AM From is a prophetic devotional blog about encountering the God of the Bible outside the four walls of a church. It's also my testimony of how Jesus led me out of false religions and changed the course of my life. Now, I'm living by faith in the One who called me home.
